CharacterName: Edward Chris von Muir
Series: Final Fantasy IV
Timeline: Just after the Leviathan attack, when Edward got thrown overboard.
Canon Resource Links: The Final Fantasy WikiPersonality: Edward Chris von Muir is a coward. That is one of the first things you'd notice about him, and it's quite correct. He's not one to fight with fists or magic, he's one to hide from fights and be a weak coward. This first bit might sound like he's useless... but he's not. Except game mechanics-wise, but this is his personality, not his 'why bards suck' section. That's later on. Anyhow, Edward is a prince as well. Yes, a prince, not a king. But he never had an interest in politics, and he still lacks a bit of the interest he needs. Instead, he is interested in music, and sharing his talent with the world, traveling to the cities/towns/whatevers he could get to. And he does have that talent! He's a good musician!
On one such trip, down south to Kaipo, he met a girl called Anna. Anna is an important part of Edwards character, and how he is at the moment. He loved her. And he stil does -- even as she's dead and rotting/faded. He lives how he thinks she would want him to, and at the moment, that's helping others, and saving the world. However, he's still pretty broken up about Annas' death, and won't get over her, even while in Johto. He was willing to stay with her dead body -- I really think he's dedicated to the girl. Don't you? Unlike some Final Fantasy characters, Edward shows his emotions, without hiding them. If he's heartbroken, he'll mention it. If he's hurt, he's not gonna be quiet. This also extends to him listening to other people and their problems, and trying to help in his own way.
At the time I'm taking him from, Edward has just been thrown from a boat by the King of the Sea. This will impact his state of mind when he first arrives -- after all, he was out cold when he hit that water, and then he wakes in a strange bed? Not cool, Johto, now he thinks he's either been killed or kidnapped... at least, he did the first time. See, he's been here before, and knows a little better. A little. But not much. He'll still have doubts over himself, like he does a lot at this canon point.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Having lived the early parts of his life in the desert, Edward is rather used to living in extreme conditions. Well, extremely hot conditions. So, come summer, he'll be set!
+ His musical skillz on the harp/lute/harplute are second-to-none. He's got talent, the sort that would make him a good bard.
+ He's also quite used to travel, having gone around some of the world as a bard. In fact, this skill will most likely make him faster then the norm when it comes to travel.
+/- Also, he's one of the fastest units... a fast runner. This also might be a disadvantage, thinking about it...
- Edward isn't psysically strong, often using music to attack instead of his fists. He also lacks magic, and has a low pain threshhold (he has a low defense/m-defense in-game.)
- Having just been thrown violently from a boat, Edward isn't gonna be in that good of a state, and will be slightly injured when he arrives. This means he also won't be as good with traveling as when he will be when he recovers.
- As mentioned in his personality, Edward is always a coward.
- Yes, he's still mourning Anna. And he will be thinking of her always in Johto. Be warned.
- As with many characters from Final Fantasy, he doesn't know technology that well. But he'll learn! Just not at the beginning of his journey. Though he does recall a bit of it from his last visit, he'll still be a bit of a derp.

[It had been a harsh trip, though caves and strange caverns, but Edward had finally done it.
He'd finally caught a Smeargle.
He'd heard they had odd abilities (that happened to be good for Breeders), so he just had to befriend one. But... he had tried figuring it out, but he couldn't! So hello, everybody, have a curious Edward. He's got a streak of paint down his face - looks like his Smeargle was tricky!]Hello, everybody.
[He said, setting up his camera so it showed both him and his new Pokemon - as he dug into his bag to get some water, to clean his face.] This is my new capture, Concord. She's rather beautiful, but I do not understand her attack.
[He'd read though all his books and everything! With a frustrated sigh, Edward looked to Concord.] You see, it is listed as Sketch, but it doesn't seem to do much. I tried to get her to defeat a nearby Unown, but she refused to battle after I commanded her!
[That's because she didn't want an ugly common move like Hidden Power, Edward. You happened to get a fussy one!]Does anybody else have a Pokemon such as this one?
[Though Edward hadn't noticed it, his also newly-captured Sandshrew was clawing at his new capture... hm, as the Smeargle was watching. Just what was this? Spoilers: shipping.]Third Person Sample: It was a dull night, the lights in the inn room cleanly off. Cecil had already gone to sleep, along with Edward's Pokemon. A calm, nice night... Edward gave a smile, as he stood. It was a good time for this, wasn't it?
As he stood, he picked up his harp. He wouldn't go far, he probably wouldn't rile up the wilds. Even though he was near Lavender Town... the town of ghosts.
Silently, he walked though the town. It wouldn't take long. He'd heard this is where spirits rested, and... well, he had to go. There was only a small graveyard now... but he approached. The door was closed to the main graveyard, but there were still a few scattered outside. Perfect. He quietly sat between the two, and got out his harp, gently resting it between his feet.
And then... he started to play. At first, it was just a few simple notes, preping his fingers. This was a special song, after all. Her favorite... after all, perhaps she could hear it? He didn't want to make any mistakes.
However, soon, his fingers started to move in the right way...
for her song.
Edward closed his eyes, losing himself in the song. Anna... was she calm? His world was fine... according to his dear friend. But still, he missed her. Would he still miss her if he spent as long as Cecil here?
...Yes, he would. His train of thought, however, was suddenly stopped when he felt a warm glow from nearby. Opening his eyes and looking down, Edward then saw a small, candle-like creature, with a bit of a smile.
"Did you enjoy that?" Edward questioned, as the creature nodded. It then reached up a stubby finger, and plucked one of the strings. Edward almost pulled away, until he noticed the creature couldn't quite touch it! Instead... "If you are careful, I shall let you play with it."
A smile. Maybe it's because it enjoyed her song, but Edward was curious about this ghost. Or maybe it was the shape? Either way, he rested his harp up against the small wooden fence, and watched it play. Was it trying to mimic him? Shaking his head, Edward then had an idea. "Do you wish to come with me and my friend? I have no Pokemon like you, and you seem passionate."
The ghost nodded, and leaped into Edward's Pokeball. As it was captured, Edward gave a bit of a small frown. Could that ghost have been related to...
"Anna...?"
